The National Care Association Chairman Nadra Ahmed commenting on the Government's white paper on the future funding of long term older people's care, Building the National Care Service, said today that 'The Care Sector badly needs a realistic, long term, deliverable funding solution. We urge government to listen to the Care Sector's views and to deliver an integrated care funding policy that is workable. As the leading UK organisation for independent care providers, NCA will be examining with close interest this extremely serious national issue that demands a resolution.'

Nadra continues: 'The uncertainty that is hanging over older people, whose future wellbeing is now a matter of national debate, must end. At present, the cost of care is being determined at a national and local level in an atmosphere of fear without a firm resolution to the issue. The time has come for older people, and the generations that follow, to know with certainty what their financial commitment must be to fund their future care. Only with certainty can there be peace of mind.'
